The Bright Side Report Positive News Worth Sharing
The Bright Side Report

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 10, 2026

Brightside Report ("we", "us") publishes positive news at brightsidereport.com. This page explains what information the site collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email hello@brightsidereport.com.

The short version

  • You can read the site without creating an account or giving us your name.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which stories people read.
  • If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address so we can send it. You can unsubscribe from any issue.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • The site shows advertising. Advertising partners may use cookies, and you can opt out of personalized ads.

Information you give us

  • Newsletter signup. When you enter your email address in a signup box, we store that address and the date you signed up. We use it only to send you the Brightside Report newsletter and occasional notices about it.
  • Contact, story tips and correction requests. When you write to us through a form on the site or by email, we receive whatever you send: typically your name if you give it, your email address, any links, and your message. We use it to reply and to act on the request.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where they are (country and city level), and what kind of device and browser they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell visits apart. It does not tell us who you are.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical details for every request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
  • A site preference cookie. We set one cookie of our own, described below, that holds a random identifier. It contains no personal details.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.

Advertising

Brightside Report is supported by advertising. Some ads are for other products from our publisher and are placed by us directly. Those ads do not use tracking cookies. If you click one, the link tells the destination site that you came from Brightside Report.

We also work with, or may work with, third party advertising partners, including Google. When those ads are running:

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.

You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Content from other sites

Story images are loaded directly from the news outlets we link to, and some pages show video thumbnails from YouTube. When your browser loads those files, the outlet or YouTube receives the same technical details any website receives, such as your IP address. When you follow a link to a source, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the companies that help us run the site, and only as far as they need it to do that job:

  • Google, for analytics and, where active, advertising.
  • MailerLite, which stores the newsletter list and sends the newsletter.
  • Vercel, which hosts the site.
  • Google Workspace, which handles our email.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it or when it is needed to protect the site or its readers.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Messages you send us are kept as long as needed to handle the request and keep a record of corrections.
  • Analytics data is kept in line with our Google Analytics retention settings.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
  • Access, correction and deletion. You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@brightsidereport.com and we will respond as promptly as we can, and within any deadline the law sets.
  • Analytics opt out. Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from recording your visits on any site.
  • Regional rights. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California or Virginia, you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to object to certain processing and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. We honor those requests wherever they apply.

Children

Brightside Report is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Where information is processed

Brightside Report is published from Virginia in the United States. The companies listed above may process information in the United States and other countries.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
